Individualized Education Program (IEP)

 All students with disabilities who require special education services have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The IEP contains information about your child's interests, strengths, needs, goals, and educational program.   It is a legal document that describes how the Department of Education (DOE) will provide a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) to your child, in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).


Your child meets the criteria for one or more of the 13 disability classifications as defined by the New York State Education Department’s Regulations of the Commissioner of Education:   Part 200 ; and The disability affects your child’s performance in school and/or ability to benefit from the general education curriculum. Students must be eligible for one of the 13 disability classifications.

  •  Autism
  • Deafness
  • Deaf-Blindness
  • Emotional Disturbance
  • Hearing Impairment
  • Intellectual Disability
  • Learning Disability
  • Multiple Disabilities
  • Orthopedic Impairment
  • Other Health Impairment
  • Speech or Language Impairment
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Visual Impairment
